Curriculum

What you will learn

The Adults follows a structured, six-module curriculum — each module builds directly on the last.

1
Module 1

Alphabet & Phonics for Adults

A dignified, adult-paced introduction to Arabic letters and sounds — using adult memory techniques, not children's methods. No judgment for starting from zero, no rushing past foundations.

2
Module 2

Reading Basic Quranic Words

From isolated letters to connected words — recognizing and reading the most common Quranic words so reading starts to feel like recognition, not decoding.

3
Module 3

Surah Reading Practice

Reading complete Surahs from Al-Fatiha through Juz 'Amma — applying letter and word reading to real Quran text, building both confidence and familiarity with the most recited passages.

4
Module 4

Tajweed Correction for Adults

Identifying and correcting the most common recitation errors adults carry from years of informal learning — pronunciation habits, madd lengths, and letter confusion — applied directly to the student's current recitation.

5
Module 5

Consistent Practice Habits

Building a sustainable reading routine around a busy adult schedule — teacher-assigned daily practice, progress check-ins, and a plan that survives real life, not just ideal conditions.

6
Module 6

Confident Independent Reading

The graduation milestone: reading independently from any page of the Mushaf, at a comfortable pace, with correct basic Tajweed — and the confidence to read in Salah and family settings.

How We Teach

Our teaching methodology

Every program at Riwaq al-Ilm is delivered through the same proven methodology — one that puts the student’s individual needs at the center of every session.

One-to-One Learning

Every session is between one student and one teacher — full attention, no group dynamics, no one holding the student back or rushing them forward.

Personalized Pace

Each student's plan is built around their level, goals, and schedule. No student moves to the next milestone until the current one is genuinely mastered.

Continuous Assessment

Teachers assess progress in every session — identifying gaps before they become habits and adjusting the approach without waiting for a formal review.

Al-Azhar Qualified Teachers

Every teacher holds a degree from Al-Azhar University — the oldest and most respected Islamic institution in the world. Academic rigor meets genuine teaching skill.

Parent Communication

Parents are kept informed at every stage — progress updates, milestone completions, and honest guidance on what comes next. You are never left guessing.

How classes work

Simple, flexible, and built around your family.

Live & Online

All sessions are conducted live via video — face-to-face with your teacher, from anywhere in the world.

One-on-One

Your teacher's complete attention for the entire session. No group classes, no sharing time with other students.

Guided Practice

Teachers assign short daily practice between sessions — small, achievable tasks that compound into real progress.

Progress Tracking

Milestones are set, tracked, and communicated to parents. You always know exactly where the student stands.

Questions about the Adults program

I haven't touched the Quran since childhood — is it too late?

It is never too late. Many of our adult students start from zero as adults and reach confident reading within months. Your teacher will never make you feel behind or embarrassed.

What if I don't know the Arabic alphabet at all?

We start from the very first letter. Our beginner adult curriculum is specifically designed for complete beginners — no prior knowledge of Arabic is needed.

How do I fit this into a busy schedule?

We offer early morning, evening, and weekend slots. Even one session per week creates real, measurable progress. We build a schedule around your life — not around a fixed timetable.

Will the teacher be patient with an adult who learns slowly?

Patience is a core requirement for our adult program teachers. Adults learn differently than children, and our teachers understand adult pacing, adult questions, and adult goals completely.

Can converts join even if they have no Islamic background?

Absolutely. Many of our adult students are converts who are learning for the very first time. Our teachers are warm, non-judgmental, and experienced with students from every background.
