What you will learn
The Nazera follows a structured, six-module curriculum — each module builds directly on the last.
Arabic Letter Recognition
Every letter in its three positions — isolated, connected at the start, connected at the end. Students build a complete, accurate recognition map before attempting to read any word.
Letter Sounds & Makharij
The correct articulation point (makhraj) for each Arabic letter — especially those with no English equivalent. Correct pronunciation from day one means no bad habits to correct later.
Word-Level Reading
Connected letters form words. Students move from isolated letter recognition to reading two- and three-letter Quranic words smoothly, building word pattern recognition.
Sentence & Ayah Reading
Reading complete ayahs from the Mushaf — combining word recognition, correct pronunciation, and natural flow to read actual Quran text, not isolated exercises.
Surah-Level Reading
Applying all skills to complete Surahs — starting with the shortest Surahs of Juz 'Amma and progressing to longer ones as reading speed and accuracy increase.
Independent Mushaf Reading
The final milestone: reading independently from any page of the Mushaf without teacher assistance. Students graduate ready for Tajweed study or the Hifz al-Qur'an Department.
Our teaching methodology
Every program at Riwaq al-Ilm is delivered through the same proven methodology — one that puts the student’s individual needs at the center of every session.
One-to-One Learning
Every session is between one student and one teacher — full attention, no group dynamics, no one holding the student back or rushing them forward.
Personalized Pace
Each student's plan is built around their level, goals, and schedule. No student moves to the next milestone until the current one is genuinely mastered.
Continuous Assessment
Teachers assess progress in every session — identifying gaps before they become habits and adjusting the approach without waiting for a formal review.
Al-Azhar Qualified Teachers
Every teacher holds a degree from Al-Azhar University — the oldest and most respected Islamic institution in the world. Academic rigor meets genuine teaching skill.

Parents are kept informed at every stage — progress updates, milestone completions, and honest guidance on what comes next. You are never left guessing.

Questions about the Nazera program
What does 'Nazera' mean?
Nazera (نظرة) means 'by sight' — reading the Quran while looking at the Mushaf, as opposed to reciting from memory. It is the foundational skill every student builds before moving to Tajweed or Hifz.
What age can my child start the Nazera program?
We welcome children from age 5. We begin with letter recognition and simple sounds, pacing everything to where your child is developmentally — no pressure, no rushing.
Is this different from the Kids Quran Program?
The Nazera program follows a structured, department-level methodology specifically designed around reading the Mushaf by sight. The focus is mastery of Nazera reading as a complete foundational skill.
How long until my child can read the Quran independently?
Most children reading consistently 2–3x per week reach independent Nazera fluency within 6–12 months, depending on their starting level and consistency.
What comes after Nazera?
After completing Nazera, students are ready to deepen their Tajweed, join the Hifz al-Qur'an program, or continue to advanced recitation. We advise parents on the best next step after each student completes their reading foundations.
