Curriculum

What you will learn

The Adults follows a structured, six-module curriculum — each module builds directly on the last.

1
Module 1

Arabic Alphabet for Adult Learners

A focused, adult-paced introduction to the Arabic alphabet — letters, sounds, and forms — using memory techniques suited to adult cognitive patterns, not children's methods.

2
Module 2

Word-Level Reading

Moving from individual letters to complete words — building the recognition speed needed to read continuously without decoding every letter individually.

3
Module 3

Surah-Level Fluency

Reading complete Surahs from the Quran, starting with the shortest and most familiar — Al-Fatiha and Juz 'Amma — until the student reads with ease and accuracy.

4
Module 4

Tajweed Correction

Identifying and correcting the most common adult recitation errors — letter confusion, madd lengths, and noon/meem rules — applied directly to the student's current recitation.

5
Module 5

Pacing & Reading Comfort

Building the confidence and rhythm to read at a comfortable, natural pace — not word-by-word or letter-by-letter, but in the flowing style of experienced reciters.

6
Module 6

Sustainable Quran Practice

A realistic, lifelong reading habit designed around a busy adult schedule — with teacher guidance on how to maintain and deepen reading practice independently.

How We Teach

Our teaching methodology

Every program at Riwaq al-Ilm is delivered through the same proven methodology — one that puts the student’s individual needs at the center of every session.

One-to-One Learning

Every session is between one student and one teacher — full attention, no group dynamics, no one holding the student back or rushing them forward.

Personalized Pace

Each student's plan is built around their level, goals, and schedule. No student moves to the next milestone until the current one is genuinely mastered.

Continuous Assessment

Teachers assess progress in every session — identifying gaps before they become habits and adjusting the approach without waiting for a formal review.

Al-Azhar Qualified Teachers

Every teacher holds a degree from Al-Azhar University — the oldest and most respected Islamic institution in the world. Academic rigor meets genuine teaching skill.

Parent Communication

Parents are kept informed at every stage — progress updates, milestone completions, and honest guidance on what comes next. You are never left guessing.

How classes work

Simple, flexible, and built around your family.

Live & Online

All sessions are conducted live via video — face-to-face with your teacher, from anywhere in the world.

One-on-One

Your teacher's complete attention for the entire session. No group classes, no sharing time with other students.

Guided Practice

Teachers assign short daily practice between sessions — small, achievable tasks that compound into real progress.

Progress Tracking

Milestones are set, tracked, and communicated to parents. You always know exactly where the student stands.

Flexible Scheduling

Sessions are scheduled around your family's life — mornings, evenings, weekends, and any time zone.

Questions about the Adults program

I haven't read Quran since childhood — is it too late?

It is never too late. Many of our adult students start from the very beginning, and within a few months they're reading independently. Your teachers will never make you feel behind.

How do I fit this into a busy schedule?

We offer early morning, evening, and weekend slots. Even 1 session per week creates steady, measurable progress — we'll build a schedule that works for your life.

Do I need to know the Arabic alphabet first?

No. We can start from absolute zero — the very first Arabic letter. Our beginner adult curriculum is specifically designed for students with no prior Arabic knowledge.

Will the teacher be patient with adults who learn slowly?

Patience is a core part of how our teachers are selected. Adults learn differently than children, and our teachers are experienced with adult pacing, adult questions, and adult goals.

How long until I can read Quran fluently?

With consistent practice, most adult beginners can read basic Quran independently within 6–12 months. Progress depends on frequency — we'll set clear milestones from day one.
