Riwaq al Ilm (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates riwaqalilm.com and provides online Quran education services to families in the United States. We are committed to protecting the privacy of every visitor, parent, guardian, and student. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over your data.
By using our website or booking a class, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Children’s Privacy (COPPA Notice)
Our services are designed for families and may include students under the age of 13. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”).
- We do not collect personal information directly from children under 13. All account and booking information is collected from a parent or legal guardian only.
- By booking a class for a child under 13, the parent or guardian provides verifiable consent for our collection and use of that family’s contact information as described in this policy.
- We do not require a child under 13 to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in our services.
- Parents and guardians may review, correct, or request deletion of their child’s information at any time by contacting us at admissions@riwaqalilm.com.
- When a family enrolls, information about a student under 13 (such as first name, age range, level and class times) is provided by the parent or guardian, used only to arrange and deliver classes, and never used for advertising.
- If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it promptly.
Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
When you book a free trial or contact us, we collect:
- Parent or guardian name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Student age (not name)
- Program interest and teacher preference
Enrollment information
When a family enrolls after the trial, our Admissions team and the parent or guardian (or adult student) provide:
- Parent, guardian or adult student’s name, email, phone, country, time zone, preferred ways to be contacted and relationship to the student
- Each student’s name, age range and whether they are an adult learner
- Notes from the introductory class (current level and learning goals), the program and package chosen, requested and confirmed class times, and the assigned teacher
- Optional private notes about a student’s learning or accessibility needs or teacher preference. These are stored encrypted, are visible only to our Admissions team, and are never shared with our marketing or analytics providers
- A record of your agreement to our enrollment policies: the name you typed, your relationship to the student, the date and time, the policy versions, your browser type and a one-way (hashed) form of your IP address
- Billing records: amounts, four-week billing cycles, payment status and receipts
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe’s secure payment pages. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe shares with us the payment status, amount and limited card details (such as the card brand and last four digits).
Information collected automatically
When you visit our site, we automatically collect limited technical information, including pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URL, browser type, device type, and general geographic region (country/state level). This data is collected through analytics tools described below and is not linked to your name or email address.
Booking information
If you book a session through our Calendly scheduling system, Calendly collects your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and selected appointment time. Calendly’s own privacy policy governs their handling of that data.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Schedule, confirm, and conduct free trial classes.
- Match your student with an appropriate teacher based on age, program, and preference.
- Communicate with you about your trial, follow-up, and enrollment options.
- Prepare your personal enrollment offer, confirm teachers and class times, and deliver classes.
- Process tuition payments every four weeks, send payment requests and receipts, and keep billing records.
- Credit a referring partner when you arrived through their referral link.
- Send you information about our programs if you have opted in or inquired.
- Improve our website, programs, and communications.
- Measure the effectiveness of our marketing and advertising.
- Comply with applicable laws and protect against fraud or abuse.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

We do not share your information with advertisers for their own marketing, and we do not allow third-party behavioral advertising on this site targeted at children.
Text Messages (SMS and WhatsApp)
If you tick the box to receive text messages, we send SMS or WhatsApp messages about your introductory class, enrollment, class schedule and payments to the number you gave us. Consent is optional and is not a condition of booking or enrolling. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help, or contact us at admissions@riwaqalilm.com.
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or your text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information is shared only with the service providers that deliver our messages (such as Twilio), solely to send them.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising measurement. These include:
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — help us understand how visitors use our site. Data is anonymized and aggregated.
- Advertising cookies (Meta Pixel) — measure the effectiveness of our Facebook and Instagram ads. We do not use these to target children.
- Functional cookies (Calendly) — required for the scheduling widget to work.
- Referral cookie — if you arrive through a partner’s referral link, we store a cookie for up to 90 days identifying that partner, so they can be credited if your family enrolls. Partners see only limited, masked information and never your child’s details.
- Sign-in cookies — keep staff and partners signed in to their portals. They are not used for tracking.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some website functionality. We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals, but we support your right to limit tracking where possible.
Data Retention
We retain your contact information for as long as needed to provide our services and maintain a record of your relationship with us, or as required by applicable law. Enrollment agreements and billing records are kept for as long as needed for our accounting, tax and legal obligations. If you request deletion of your information, we will remove it from our active records within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your information from our records.
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time by replying “unsubscribe” or contacting us directly.
- California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is sold or disclosed (we do not sell personal information) and the right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
- Parents and guardians may exercise any of the above rights on behalf of their minor child.

Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted through our website. Private student notes are encrypted in our database, private enrollment links are stored only in a one-way (hashed) form, and access to family and student information is limited to authorized personnel. While we take reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to Other Websites
Our site may contain links to third-party websites (such as Calendly or WhatsApp). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
